NOURISHING DIY FACE MASKS: AVOCADO

Updated: Dec 5, 2019

Why buy face masks when you can make your own?

Hello Glow Beauties!

Theres nothing worse than that itchy, flaky, lack of moisture tight feeling in your face. We've all been there so don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about sis. Everyone wants clear glowing skin and instead of spending the big bucks on countless skin care products you can make your own. I put together some of my best DIY face mask recipes using avocados. This fabulous fruit works W O N D E R S! Filled with folic acid, biotin, calcium, vitamin B5, B6, C, K, E, and A which can definitely improve your skin. NOTE: You'll need to rinse off the avocado, then peel it and remove the pit. I find it best to cut the avocado in half and scoop the pit out with a spoon or you can pull it out with your hands.

1. AVOCADO & HONEY: For Dry Skin

Avocado provides a powerful punch to aid in flaky, peeling dry skin. The vitamins that it contains are an essential part of the body's natural ability to create healthy new skin cells. Combine that with the benefits that honey has, which aids in moisturizing and brightening. Say bye bye to that dry ass face & hello to a nice glowing face.

All You Need...

  • Avocado

  • Honey (100% natural/ Raw) #Manuka

Recipe...

  • 1. Mash 1/2 an avocado with a fork

  • 2. Add 2TBS of honey

  • 3. Mix until the consistency is smooth and pasty.

Mask-Up...

  1. First, wash your face with warm water

  2. Next, apply mask to face using your finger but if that's to messy for you then a clean make-up brush will work just fine.

  3. Wait 15 mins. (The mask will start to harden up but sort worry.)

  4. Remove with warm water and a clean washcloth.

  5. When the mask is removed, rinse with cold water. By doing so closes your pores and tightens your skin.

  6. Finally, pat your face dry with a washcloth.

Tips: Apply rose water after to keep skin well hydrated.

2. AVOCADO & OATMEAL: For Damaged Skin

This recipe helps soothe damaged skin by moisturizing, brightening and smoothing. The oatmeal removes dead peeling skin while nourishing the skin underneath. I use plain oats and ground them up in the blender, for me it's easier to maintain.

All You Need...

  • Avocado

  • Oatmeal

Recipe...

  • Mash 1/2 avocado in a bowl with a fork.

  • Add 1TBS of oatmeal

  • Mix well until the oatmeal is combined.

  • Add another TBS of oatmeal to the mixture, mix well until you create a paste.

Mask-Up...

  1. Wash face with warm water.

  2. With your fingers or a clean make-up brush, apply the mixture in a circular motion.

  3. Gently massage your face for 3-5 minutes.

  4. Allow the mask to dry for 15 mins.

  5. Remove the mask by washing with warm water then with cold water to close your pores.

  6. Finally, pat skin dry with a clean washcloth.

Tips: Add a few drops of essential oil of your choice for a soothing and calm feeling.

3. AVOCADO & APRICOT: Exfoliate

By far another one of my favorites because it is great at removing radicals and dead cells from your skin. Since avocados are rich in vitamin E it naturally can help neutralize the effects of toxins and UV rays. Apricots have natural acids that can help exfoliate dead skin cells that clog your pores and work to shrink the appearance of pores.

All You Need...

  • Avocado

  • Apricot

  • Blender

Recipe...

  • Wash off avocado and apricot. Remove seeds from both.

  • Cut the apricot into chunks and place in the blender.

  • Add 1/2 avocado

  • Blend the ingredients until everything is well blended.

Mask-Up...

  1. 1. Remove paste from blender and apply to skin using finger or a clean make-up brush. (Also can be applied to neck & chest)

  2. 2. Allow the mask to dry for 15 mins.

  3. 3. Rinse with warm water.

  4. 4. Splash cold water on face to close pores.

  5. 5. Pat skin dry with clean washcloth.

Tips: Use as an overnight mask for extra nourishment.

Can be used once a week.

4. Avocado, Tumeric, Lemon & Yogurt: For a Brighter Face

This is probably one of my favorites because I love the benefits each one has. Turmeric is one powerful ass herbal supplement, its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. So basically turmeric beats acne ass lol. Lemon will also help fight acne because it's anti-bacterial. Yogurt is hydrating which is good for you dry skinners also gets rid of any dark spots. Im quite picky when choosing the right brands of yogurt to get. I go for the #organtic, #greek #yogurt. I always avoid yogurts with flavoring and sugar.

NOTE: Turmeric can stain your skin if you use too much.

All You Need...

  • Avocado

  • Yogurt

  • Lemon

  • Tumeric

Recipe...

  • 1 Avocado

  • 2tbs Yogurt

  • 1/2 squeezed lemon

  • 1tbs Tumeric

Mask-Up...

  1. Mash up the avocado until pasty.

  2. Add in the yogurt.

  3. Add the tumeric.

  4. Add the lemon juice.

  5. Mix all together, and store in airtight jar.

  6. Apply to face using finger or a clean make-up brush.

  7. leave on for 30 mins.

  8. Rinse with warm water then cold water.

  9. Pat face with clean washcloth.

5. Avocado, Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey: For Sensitive Skin

Do you ever have super sensitive skin, fair complexion and prone to scarring and redness? This face mask can be used every 3 weeks or whenever you want to indulge. For me it makes my face feel more firm and keep my skin glowing. When using this mask you'll notice the cooling and tingly feeling that it gives off. That means it's working! The apple cider vinegar acts as a toner which helps reduce redness and regulates the pH of skin. When choosing apple cider vinegar I tend to use one brand - #BraggsAllNatural

All You Need...

  • Avocado

  • Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Raw Honey

  • Water

Recipe...

  • 1/2 Avocado

  • 1/2tbs raw apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2tbs honey

  • 1/2tbs water

Mask-Up...

  1. Blend all ingredients together using a blender, you do not want any clumps.

  2. Apply to face using fingers or a clean make-up brush.

  3. Leave on for an hour. It will dry and become firm.

  4. Wash off with a wet warm washcloth.

Tips: While waiting for the mask to dry try adding cucumbers to your eyes and relax or mediate.

For those that have sensitive skin, prone to acne, scarring and redness these mask will help alleviate the problem and make you feel great about yourself. Everyone skin is different so I would test these out prior to using. Say Hello to beautiful glowing skin.

Have some left over? Store the extras in a air tight glass jar. I usually go for the #MansonJars. When you notice the top starting to brown just scrape it off and squeeze a little lime on top to prevent from browning.
